Molesey 5-0 Dorking (Brief Match Report)
Taken From Dorking Website
After the determination shown in last weekend’s excellent 1-1 draw with third placed Hanworth Villa, Dorking produced a strangely flat performance at 5th placed Molesey on Saturday, going down to a comfortable defeat in their penultimate game of the season.
With victories for the two teams just below Dorking in the league, Colliers Wood winning 1-0 at Mole Valley SCR and Chessington surprisingly winning 4-0 at Raynes Park Vale, Dorking will need to pick points up in their final game of the season at home to Badshot Lea this Saturday to be sure of finishing outside the bottom three places in the Combined Counties Premier Division.
To be fair, Dorking went into the game without the influential Craig Duffell, and recent newcomers Joe Pratley Jones and Scott Todd, and Chicks missed those three quality players in what was always going to be a difficult away fixture.
A bright spot was the return of winger Billy Ramsey after suspension, and for 10 minutes, Dorking looked purposeful and organised. But on 10 minutes, concentration lapsed, allowing Molesey’s left full back time to cross the ball for the home striker to comfortably head home.
Molesey pushed their early advantage to score two more in the first half, the third a shot from outside the box after Dorking’s keeper Coles had injured himself in the course of the second Molesey goal.
Dorking were better in the second period with Dave McCann perhaps the most prominent Dorking player, and for the bulk of the second half Dorking matched Molesey, but without really forcing the home keeper into any meaningful saves. And to rub salt into the Dorking wounds, Molesey scored two late goals to complete what was a routine win for Molesey.
