2018 Junior Season Information

2 weeks ago By Ian Nathan

Please read on for important information on Season dates, the Club's team set ups and how to register online with Rugby Link.

Team Nominations for 2018
• Clubs must complete final team nominations by Thursday 26th March. So we will be assessing registration numbers before finalising teams
• Rugby Victoria will then aim to release the fixture during the week starting on Monday 2nd April.
• This gives the clubs 3 weeks to distribute fixture details and prepare for the Junior Season.

This year Moorabbin will run the Pathway Comp, U6 - U9 teams and then enter U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18 teams. Within those age groups we will have top age players in the A comp and bottom age players in the B comp. This will be dependent on player numbers too. Our aim is to have players develop abilities alongside team mates with a view towards long term skill acquisition to develop senior players capable of fitting into any team around the world.

Rugby Australia Weight for Age Policy
Rugby Aust will be implementing a Nation wide “Weight for Age” policy as part of the Age dispensation procedure.
This nation-wide policy will be:
• Height & Weight physical development guidelines applying for the key age groups U10 to U15 where players fall outside these guidelines (both above & below) will require mandatory assessment under the Age Dispensation procedure.
• Development of an online Independent Assessing Coach Accreditation program on the Rugby Learning Centre
• Online capture of all Dispensation requests and approvals with the ability for oversight by
Rugby AU
This is why it is a requirement when players register for the 2018 Junior season that height and weight are entered for each participant. Once these are entered any measurements that fall outside the weight/height bandings will require a mandatory assessment which will include physical development and skills tests.
