1sts v Harlequins 9-5-2015
A tough day on the paddock for the Rams
From the start Harlequins were able to disrupt Moorabbin from stringing together phases and their pressure allowed them to score two quick tries from Rams errors. Late in the first half the Rams forwards pieced together some strong running close to the Quins line only to lose the ball centimetres short of a try. Strong running from the Quins backs saw a number of unanswered tries posted to take them to half time with a 24 point lead.
Moorabbin were hoping to get points on the board early but the Harlequin's defence was strong even holding up a try. Sustained pressure from Moorabbin eventually forced a handling error from the Quins back line and Ikenasio ran in a 30m try, giving the Rams a bit of hope. But this proved to be short lived as Quins kept attacking around the rucks and scored some impressive tries.
Moorabbin continued to push hard in an effort to come back but the hard work was not rewarded until late in the game. The Rams were able to manufacture a try via some strong running from the forwards, which saw Malo score and Paul convert it. However, the day belonged to Quins who ran out as comfortable winners 55-12.
Despite further injuries this weekend, Moorabbin are still looking to seal wins in the final two games of round 1 to compete for 4th place.
