On a warm Sunday bank holiday in Darlington ,the Town 10s finished there season off in great style ,and by the narrowest of margins, missed the semi final stages of the competition by half a point in the fair play league.
The tournament started off well with a 3-2 victory followed by a 3-1 defeat to Bishop Auckland.Town then followed this up with a 3-1 victory and a 4-0 against Westoe of South Sheilds. The final game was by far the toughest encounter, against the undefeated Middlesborough side,Mold.A 2-2 draw ,secured right on time by Jaidon was felt by the travelling army of support to have placed Town second in the league placings, however Bishop auckland had the same league results as Moortown,so the fair play league system came into place. This is where the referees ,score each team and supporters throughout the tournament on that teams behaviour and attitude regarding their on field AND off field performance.Bishop Auckland had scored half of one point more than Moortown on the fair play league.(5 games,10 points possible per game).
However,it had been a great experience for the team to play against these clubs we dont play during the normal season and would definately wish to repeat the experience.
