Great setting ,great result

In first class settings ,Moortown travelled to Hull Ionions to take on the might of east Yorkshire in this 1st round of the Yorkshire cup.
With a squad of 15 ,Town warmed up well and and took to the field to face a huge squad of Ionions in their resplendent quarter shirts, every bit as smart as the terrific facility they call home.
The first 10 minutes were a mix of heavy defence from Moortown and nice handling through the lines from both sides,Town got the break as Teadrie opened up from inside the Town half and in the footrace that followed ,out paced the chasing Hull defence to score the games first try,the conversion dropped short of the posts but at 5-0 Town were on their way. The blue and whites of the home team kept up the pressure ,Moortown needed daylight on the scoreboard to settle nerves and a second try right on half time again by Teadrie converted by Dylan brought the team in at half time 12 points to the better.
The team were playing some terrific rugby but needed to carry on in this vein to keep Hull at bay, they were still capable of a fight back so the Town boys were told to control the break downs and play the ball deep down in the Hull half using the tail wind to put intelligent kicks into the throat of the Hull defence turning their backs and pressure them into making mistakes Town could capitalise on.
Danny used this tatic well on a couple of occasions and could have touched down his own chase but for a last gasp shoulder from Hulls chasing back , a scrambled try saving moment but by now the dai was cast and Town added a third try from Sam D before a well worked try from Hulls 18 who broke more than a couple of Towns tackles before scoring a good try ,determination proving the cutting edge in this instance, the two extras went begging but Town didn't panic and now were turning the screw, every player digging deep into the reserves, without the chance of a sub to ease the pressure ,the Moortown guys were playing for each other and had hit a seam of form which would bring two more tries, one for Ben ,his first in a year and Teadries hat trick score ,converted from a long way out by his wing buddy Matt. A final score of 5-36 had the guys singing all the way back to the changing rooms ,if they can find this form in the coming weeks they will turn a few heads in the teams they play against. Every player was commended post match as the man of man award went to the whole team for a terrific performance.
Next up in the cup , SELBY (away).
