Club Captains 2011

Our club captains for this season will be Chris West and Nicole Britten.

Chris has written the following:

"I started playing for Moretonville in 2002 when I was coached by the inspirational Tom Goom. I have been playing for the same Moretonville team since 2003. Believe it or not I started out as a striker but quickly changed into a goal keeper in my second season with the club. I have had trials for two academy sides and have been offered to play division 1 football on numerous occasions. Instead I decided to stick with my own team, Moretonville Tornados.
My most memorable moment for the club was when I won the clean sheet award last season. It has been my goal to win that award since becoming a goal keeper. Other memorable moments include winning player’s player and manager’s player. Being chosen by the committee to be the Club Captain is by far my greatest achievement.
As Club Captain I feel I need to set an example to my fellow players. I spend a lot of time working down at Gawcott and help out as much as possible. I help coach the under 7’s on a Saturday morning and I also have just passed my referees qualification. I have just started to referee the younger age groups and as I become more confident and experienced I would like to move up and referee the older age groups. I plan to carry on helping in an around the club after I finish my final season.
I’m very sad that this is my last season with the club. Playing for Moretonville is the one thing I look forward to doing every week. Not only has the club supported me tremendously but offers a platform for social integration and exercise to many of the local community’s younger population. I for one am extremely grateful to the club as it has enabled me to become the person I am today.
Lastly I need to thank every single member of the committee that has given me this opportunity and I hope to be able to fulfil my duties as Club Captain to the best of my ability."

Nicole has written:

My name is Nicole Britten and I am the girls club captain for Moretonville this season and I currently play for the Under 18’s Phoenix. I have been playing in the girls section of the club since it was founded and completed my first season in 2004-05. I have also represented the Buckinghamshire Girls county team for 3 seasons running now and when younger I was offered a place in the MK Dons academy. I have always played the midfield position and in the last 3 seasons have found my favourite and strongest position on the right wing.

I have had many memorable moments at Ville, one of them being gaining the top scorer award on presentation evening of the season 2009-10. Other awards include manager’s player, clubgirl and most improved player. I am also very proud to have reached the final of a couple of the cup competitions now and winning the cup in 2008 is a memory that will stay with me.

Ever since joining the club I have always wanted to be Club Captain and now I have this role I will represent Moretonville and set an example to all the other club members. I have recently completed a linesmen course and hope to use this to help the club and ref younger team games and obviously run the line for older teams. I also help coach the youngest girls team, also called the Phoenix, so far very successful! I will be present at the grounds whenever possible to show that I’m committed and very honoured to have this role.
So I would like to thank all committee members and everyone at the club for choosing me to be Club Captain and I can assure you that I will carry out this role as best as I can.

The club has done huge amounts for me and it’s extremely sad to think this could be my last year. From presentation day in summer, to the hot chocolates on cold weekend mornings, Moretonville has offered me enjoyment throughout.
Football is something that I look forward to every week and Moretonville is the club I have grown up with, I would like all the boys and girls to feel the same and hope one day that they can also have the same opportunity as I do of being Club Captain.
