Liam Thomas, a member of last year's winning U17 team, is currently representing his country vs Pakistan out in Dubai. Read on for more details
Liam, who kept for the 17s in the latter part of the season, is representing the England Physical Disabilities Squad
A lower limb amputee, Liam has already kept for the 1st XI at Scholes CC as well as his success with the U17’s at Morley. More recently, he excelled behind the stumps in a two-run win for England against the Army Development XI. His county coach, John, believes Liam has a long international career ahead of him:
“He’s just got such great hands, we played against Lancashire & Cheshire who are the two strongest teams and he’s taking legside stumpings off current England players. At his age, he could be an England player for the next twenty years! We need to work on his batting, he is capable but he doesn’t have the mindset of making big scores yet.”
As the England incumbent with the gloves, Thomas can expect to be kept busy out in the United Arab Emirates.
The tour started today with a narrow 20/20 defeat. A further 20/20 match is scheduled for tomorrow and 3 one day internationals are to follow this week, all at the impressive ICC Global Cricket Academy. Match report link below.
