Saxons Overpower Cleckheaton
Victory in a festival of champagne rugby.
Playing against Cleckheaton even though it was supposed to be a friendly was never going to be easy and as usual at every level we knew it was going to be a heated game.
Cleckheaton had a good team but it was clear from the offset that Morley had the upper hand. After a few dominant scrums from the Morley pack a penalty try was awarded for collapsing the scrum with made it 19-5 a lead Morley would never relinquish.
The final score was 40 v 12 (ish) but the main focus was on retiring full-back Gobby who got a signature try in his final game, a crash ball from about 5 metres out, he could have had 2 had he not mistaken the 5-metre line for the try line.
Back at Scatchard Lane he even got to down his favourite drink at the end of the night (2 pints of whatever Unit and Greeny could think of, with coffee on top).
