Morley continue their good form to ease past Ripon
Morley continued to build on their season with an emphatic win against Ripon. With many players missing, this game showed the strength and quality within the Morley squad.
On a sticky pitch, playing on the slope that is the cemetery pitch, Morley found their legs straight from the off. Morley started off up hill and soon turned what should have been a disadvantage into nothing. With a reshuffled forward line up, Morley held their own in the rucks and mauls and with each play they grew in confidence. Morley began to dominate the rucks and contact areas, any threat from Ripon was muted with some terrific tackling from Morley.
This set the game up, Morley constantly pushing for the break or error, Ripon trying to get the ball wide only to go backwards. It was a very competitive game and despite the scoreline there was some excellent rugby from both sides. Ripon kicked well and used the territory they had gained really well, but could not cope with the intensity of the tackling from Morley.
Morley scored seven tries, with a few forwards scoring showing that Morley enjoyed control in the forwards as well as the backs. Excellent running and support play from all quarters resulted in this scoreline. Ripon deserved more from the game and their consolation try was deserved, especially for remaining competitive to the end.
Morley's display was excellent from start to finish, the boys wanted it and showed it. Smashing into the contact areas, supporting each other, it was an excellent display of skills and commitment.
