That's more like it
A much improved performance from Morley as they push Hullensians all the way
Despite losing, today was possibly Morley's best performance of the season against a strong Hullensians side.
In wet conditions Morley dominated possession in the first half and were unlucky to only be leading 7-5 at half time (with Hullensians having taken advantage of a rare lapse in the Morley defence).
The turning point in the game was the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half when Hullensians scored back to back tries straight from the kick off. For the next 15 minutes Morley were on the ropes and only great scrambling defence kept Morley in the game.
Morley gradually worked themselves back into the game and scored a fine team try with 10 minutes to go. Despite a valiant attempt, Morley were not able to secure the final score that would have given them the win.
So a defeat for Morley but there have been occasions this season when they have played a lot worse and still won. The tackling and general defensive effort was a big improvement on their recent cup defeat. They retained possession well in wet conditions and if they can cut out the errors that gifted Hullensians all 3 tries then they will win more of these games against the top sides.
Well done lads!
