Colts progress to Yorkshire Cup Semi Final

In a hard fought game that could have gone either way, Morley's try line defence managed to keep Rotherham at bay - just!

Morley, despite playing into a stiff breeze, had the better of the first half and led 12-0 not long before half time. However, indiscipline led to a Morley player being shown a yellow card and allowed Rotherham to crash over from short range to make the half time score 12-5.

With the wind behind them Morley should have been able to dominate territory in the 2nd half but a combination of an improved Rotherham perfomance, poor ball control and indiscipline meant that Rotherham had the better of the 2nd half.

Morley kicked a penalty and both sides had tries disallowed before Rotherham again managed to crash over from short range having been piggy backed down the field by multiple penalties. 15-10

Morley had an excellent chance to seal the victory following a great move that saw Morley go the entire length of the field with the ball going through multiple pairs of hands.However, a desperate lunge from the Rotherham full back just managed to deflect the final pass.

Rotherham spent the last 10 minutes camped on the Morley line, twice crossing the line only for both efforts to be ruled out. Once for a double movement and once when the ref ruled that the ball had been held up by a Morley hand. However, in the end, the Maroon defensive wall held firm and Morley progress to the semi-final next Sunday.

A great effort from the Morley Colts that typifies what has been a successful season for the Colts.
