Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.

Morpeth took to Stockton knowing that a win here would crown them league champions, however a hectic first ten minutes put the away sides plans on hold. Morpeth found themselves 3-0 down after approximately 10 minutes, a wakeup call was needed and this was provided when chambers squared the ball to Foster on the penalty spot who swept the balling right into the corner. The northumbrians started to get more and more into the game however there was to be no change before half time.

3-1

Morpeth came out stronger and quicker than they did in the first half and were attacking the D more and more often, coming closer each time, shots from Chambers, Anderson and Tordoff not managing to find the goal. It was only when Chambers and Foster again combined, this time with Foster slotting the ball into the on running Chambers path whom touched the ball forward. The Stockton defender had given the ball up for going out over the backline, however Chambers took to the sky and leapt at the ball making contact just before it went out and sticking it into the goal.

Full Time 3-2
