Morpeth In Mordale Trophy Success!!
As Morpeth 4th team licked their wounds after yet another heavy loss they might have wondered whatever happened to Saturday night, finding a sweetheart and holding her tight.
For as the song says, the years brought the railroad, it ran by our door, now there’s boards on the windows and dust on the floor. And she passes the time at another man’s side; we pass the time with our pride. But proudly Morpeth 4th team go on.
In spite of the score, there was much to admire in Morpeth’s play against a side including mainly younger and more skilled players. Morpeth never let their heads go down, and showed commitment to the cause throughout. Mark Lightley, the goal-keeper was Morpeth’s man of the match, but he was closely followed by Michael Murray, who had one of his best games of the year. Another youngster, Andrew James, showed promise on the right wing.
