A Fine Victory For Mens 4ths
Morpeth 4ths traveled to Durham, hopeful to gain a victory over a side below them in the league
Due to traffic problems, Morpeth started with 10, but played some delightful one touch hockey.
After the 11th man took to the field, Morpeth started to take control and after some good movement, Bardley Swan was left to fire home from an acute angle.
The goal seemed to spur on the home side and Durham pushed forward for an instant response, which they duly did. The game was open and both teams style produced a attacking game and a delightful ball found Bradley Swan in space, who calmly took the ball into the D and slotted in his 2nd goal.
Morpeth were enjoying their best period of the game at this moment and Gordon Mocket slipped a ball to Martyn Bott, who's shot was well saved by the keeper, the ball fell nicely to Will Mclean who smashed in Morpeth's 3rd goal.
A defensive lapse allowed Durham to get a goal back before half time.
Morpeth decided to try and tighten their defence up in the 2nd half, but their attacking prowess shone through again, with Will Mclean smashing a great goal from the top of the D.
Morpeth seemed to lose their way after the goal and the game became a scrappy affair, but aprt from a few short corners, Morpeth were comfortable to see out the remaining minutes and ensure the victory
