The Highway Men continue their pre season preparation at first Division newcomers Durham City, who were playing in Evostick North last season.

The Highway Men's preparations for the forthcoming season continued with a very creditable draw at first division Durham City.

Playing on a 3G synthetic surface goal scoring chances chances in the first have were at a premium as both defences dominated. The Durhan City golaie was the first to be called into action when he did well to save Dormand's towering header on the half hour.

This was the srtart of a dominant period of play for the visitors. fry made space for himself and flashed a shot from twenty five yards just wide of the far post. After good play on the right by Clarke Howes just faile to connect with Wilson's cross.

As the half came to a close both sides almost broke the deadlock. First a clever back heel by McAlpine played in Howes whose fierce drive was tipped ovet the bar. Then Durham advance up field and a Thompson pile driver cannoned back of the near post.

At half time manager Nick Gray changed his whole forward line and then introduced Chilton for the injured Tumilty. Morpeth continued to contain Durham with their neat passing game a constant threat.

Wilson drove down the right on seventy five minutes to release Anderson. He out pace the home defence and his powerful shot crashed back of the post.

Morpeth continue their pre season programme at home to Killingworth on Thursday 2nd August K.O. 7-30pm
