60 point weekend

6 months ago By Alan Cunningham

All three teams were in action over the weekend and all three recorded victories

With the weather finally on the up all three Morton teams were in action over the weekend . The first eleven fresh from victory in round one welcomed Holy Cross to the Meadows . The poor weather has meant that preparing wickets has been difficult and it was always likely that games would be low scoring, Morton batted first and struggled to score with any fluidity. a score of 118 off 40 overs with Nathan top scoring with 29 looked as though it might not be enough but the bowlers had other plans and Holy cross came up 20 short with all bowlers chipping in but with last weeks top wicket taker, Dhayalan again leading from the front with 3 wickets.
Meanwhile the twos were across town playing old friends Old Comestibles . Again The Ton batted first and managed 133 All out with Gupta top scoring with 43. The team rose to the challenge bowling OCs out for 103 with Manu being top wicket taker.
The 3s got there season off to a great start with a fine win over Stuart Melville 3s . batting first they made 101 before blasting Stu Mels out for 26. given that, for various reasons they have been promoted 2 divisions this was a great way to start the season
fantastic also to see so many faces both old and new enjoying themselves in Berties. saturday evening
