The first team travelled to Scroggie Park in Falkland to take on the league leaders. It was soon obvious why the Fifers had a hundred per cent record . Their bowling attack was as good as anything we have faced and we were always toiling on a slow outfield with the boundaries set well back. That said Sannah hit some big shots in his 29 before being caught on the boundary going for another big shot. Veera too continued his recent good form with the bat with 44 before he too was caught going for one more big hit. The final total of 116 never looked enough. and when Falklands openers put on 63 for the first wicket the writing was on the wall. In the end 5 wickets fell and we were left to wonder what an extra 30 or 40 runs might have done to the result.
Meanwhile the twos were at home to S,M,R,H. 3s on The Meadows. Batting first Morton struggled against accurate bowling with only Hoggy And Madhu getting to double figures 100 for 8 off 40 overs was unlikely to be enough. As in the first eleven game a good opening stand of 69 set the game up for the visitors and Morton only managed 3 wickets as the target was passed in 33 overs.
The only success of the day was the threes who recorded a 5 wicket win over Musselburgh 3s. Again they managed to chase down a total after the visitors had posted 100 off 36 overs. All the top order got runs with Vijay top scoring with 24 . The threes now lead division 9
well done belton
Thanks Manc! Had to give the team the hairdryer treatment for lateness!!;-)
But felt bad when they played so well to win!!!;-))))
Hopefully the 1s + 2s can get to winning ways next week ;-)))))
It's certainly an unorthodox motivational technique - spending the last five minutes before the first ball telling your team what a fvcking disgrace they are.
I hope Aiden wasn't listening. I'm not sure I'll adopt that approach in my captaincy, i may have no players left!!!
Great team effort guys........ extraordinary effort from Aravind....has taken 3's home in every game he has played.....unbeaten.....under pressure...well done mate!!
