Mossley were held to yet another draw at Shaw View on Saturday, their 14th of a hugely frustrating season, with Trafford the latest club to come from behind to snatch a point from the luckless Lilywhites.

Mossley went into the game bereft of the injured Nathan Neequaye and suspended pair Cavell Coo and Keil O'Brien. Dave Young replaced O'Brien and captained the side with midfielder Steven Yarwood and striker Danny Hudson given their first starts.

It was a scrappy game that neither side did enough to win though there were chances, and disallowed goals, at both ends.

Tom Denton had an effort chalked off for off-side when he netted the rebound after Trafford's former Mossley keeper Andy Robertson had spilled Hudson's piledriver while Simon Carden was deemed off-side when he netted from close range for Trafford.

Mossley just about deserved the lead when it came on 29 minutes. Mossley won a free kick deep on the left outside the box and Mark Haslam's cross was looped home by the head of Mossley player- manager Steve Halford for his third goal of the season.

Martin Pearson was called into action and he made good saves to deny Danny Shannon and another former Mossley man Joe Shaw.

Trafford pressed for an equalizer after the break and Pearson was again called into action making another couple of excellent saves while Paul Ashton saw an effort crash off the outside of the post as the home side powered forward. Mossley were reduced to breakaway attacks but the final ball was often a poor one and chances petered out.

Danny Hudson limped off to be replaced by Kayde Coppin and soon after Ben McNamara, back from a lengthy injury lay off, replaced the tiring Steven Yarwood.

It looked like it would be a frustrating afternoon for Trafford with Mossley defending stoutly and Martin Pearson looking unbeatable but as has happened so often this season there was a twist in the tale with six minutes remaining. Mossley were defending in numbers but a reckless challenge by Lee Rick gave Trafford a blatant penalty. Pearson guessed right and made a brilliant save to deny Andy Smart from the spot kick but home substitute Kamahl Whight reacted quickest to score as the ball rebounded back into play.

Mossley had the last couple of chances of the game with Ben Richardson failing with a free kick and Kayde Coppin seeing his looping effort easily saved by Robertson with the last kick of the game and Mossley were forced to settle for their third 1-1 draw on the spin.
