Mossley 1st XI hosted Antrim 1st XI in their opening Premier League match of the season at The Glade on Saturday. A strong performance by the home side saw them come away from the opening day on top of the league with a 6-1 win. Mossley piled on the pressure in the opening exchanges but Antrim stood firm and kept the match all square until Simon Todd broke the deadlock on 15 minutes. Mossley extended their lead before half time when Captain Matt Anderson converted a penalty corner strike.
Antrim replied in the second half with a goal of their own with a well-executed penalty corner but Mossley swiftly responded to quash a hopes of a comeback and continued to extend their tally throughout the half with Philip Kane and Jordan Robinson getting on the scoresheet from penalty corners and Jordan Barr and Joel Cathcart on the mark from open play. It was a promising start for the Glade Men under their new Coach Alison McNeill but there will be plenty to improve upon as the league progresses.
