Our Men's club captains are Adam Wray-Summerson and James Goulding, but who are they?

1st XV Captain Adam Wray-Summerson

How has your career gone so far? What clubs have you played for and in which positions?

Well im getting on a bit now but I’ve played most of my senior rugby at Mossley hill. During my uni years, I spent most of my rugby with the University Air Squadron, Liverpool Engineers and the Royal Air Force College which was class. Played mostly back row with the showing at second row when we was short. Im happy to play anywhere as I just enjoy rugby so much

Who is the biggest influence on your career so far?

This is a tough one as you can a lot about pros you watch on the tele, but, I reckon probably our old skipper Witham. When I broke my leg a few years ago he was influential in making sure I was in the right place to get back quick and also is such a calming influence on the pitch, who also knows his rugby.

Who is the best player you’ve played with and why?

Difficult one this but probably Sean McRae. He is versatile, aggressive and fit. Class player…
Who is the worst player you have ever played with and why?

Hmmm… in the interest of not offending any little bitches, ill decline to answer that one.
Who is the main player up for jokes at Mossley Hill?

We are such an eccentric mix of people from all sorts of backgrounds so I’d say we’re all up for a laugh. Carl Ross is the best at one liners though.

Who is the biggest wind up merchant and why?

Tie between Paul Finn and Pacman that one. They’re both as bad as each other and normally end up winding up each other and falling out.

Who is the worst dressed?

Will Kennedy for ex-players. Definitely

Who has the worst taste in music?

Probably the Mole and I only say that as he has an unnerving affection for any band from Manchester

Who can’t handle their ale and any funny stories to back that up?

Big Eddie, for a man of his size he should be able to out drink anyone but unfortunately he just falls asleep. Only stories are from tour and what happens on tour, stays on tour.

And finally who’s the longest in the shower?

Always used to be Witham but I think its probably me now. Still get out quicker than Aaron who takes an age to sort his bloody hair out.

2nd XV Captain James ‘Catchy’ Goulding

How has your career gone so far? What clubs have you played for and in which positions?

I started playing late at the age of 22, at a 32 inch chest and only 10st. I started playing at Sefton RUFC playing in their 4’s playing outside centre. I also played fullback when a player called Bambi stopped playing. I progressed in to a Sefton 3’s side that was captained fantastically by our very own Ian Ross were I played wing and sometimes fullback. After this I got picked for the 2’s, but, after befriending Lanky and Mr Ross who introduced me to “rugby living” ,found myself back in the 3’s with a 42inch chest and 12st. I was given the nickname of “Hands Goulding” because of how safe my handling was, which most of my currently Mossley Hill team mates won’t believe. After my own injuries and some inspirational quotes by Paul Campo, started playing for Mossley Hill 2’s where I have made some good friends along the way.

Who is the biggest influence on your career so far?

The biggest influence would have to be all the friends that wear too lazy to play football on a Saturday, leading to James Spencer in asking to come and try rugby. My first response was “F**k off, am too small, I will get put in hospital!”. This then led me to going to one training session in the rain and getting close lined by a 6ft 6 forward, which got me hooked so I would never of played if it wasn’t for Jay Spencer.

Who is the best player you’ve played with and why?

Wouldn’t like to say as I have played with so many fantastic players. But, for different reasons, I have had the honour to play with all 3 Ross brothers so I can’t pick one.

Who is the worst player you have ever played with and why?

After the mistakes that I have made, I find it funny that I have to someone else, but the repeat offender for throwing the ball through his legs to absolutely nobody, it has to be Paul “Kitty Cat” Finnegan.

Who is the main player up for jokes at Mossley Hill?

When It comes to telling jokes it probably Carl Ross who comes out with some fantastic dad jokes, practical jokes would have to be Paul Finn.

Who is the biggest wind up merchant and why?

Biggest wind up merchant is definitely Paul Finn and David Kelly who constantly wind up the easy target of Pacman.

Who is the worst dressed?

Worst dressed would be Ian Ross who has turned up to games in pink t-shirt, white shorts and sandals with socks.

Who has the worst taste in music?

This will be given to Pacman because the rumour is he loves songs like Barbie Girl.

Who cant handle their ale and any funny stories to back that up?

Sean Ridgeway. Would be the one who cannot handle the ale as he had downed a pint for the man of the match award and had to run the toilet to throw up. I followed him with my phone and recorded it.

And finally who’s the longest in the shower?

Pick anyone of the Ross brothers, the amount of liquid they consume whether it be in the bar or in the shower is ridiculous.
