Mountain Ash RFC Under 15s played host to Bridgend Athletic and came unstuck by 55 points to 19.The game started with Mount gifting Bridgend 3 tries 2 of which were converted in the first 6 minutes. So it was always going to be hard to get back into the game, but fair play to Mount they started to set up some good play of their own and scored tries through Kurtis Griffiths and Steven Brittain being converted by Liam Jones, which brought Mount back into the game back with the score line at 19 points to 14. Bridgend then set up two good attacks to score tries wide out to take the lead 29 points to 14, but mount still stuck at task and scored another good try through Kurtis Griffiths to bring Mount within 10 points at the half time whistle.
The second half was one of errors on Mount behalf and well taken opportunities for Bridgend. With the score line not really reflecting the game as Mount attacked and created chances only for last pass chances not to be given to players in try scoring positions. This is something the players need to realise that they need to pass when the opportunity to score is there and not take the ball on themselves. Which resulted in turnover ball for Bridgend for them then to clear their line with kicks down field, which Mount then created errors of their own making for Bridgend to score 4 more tries 3 of which were converted. For Bridgend to run out winners by 55 points to 19 which left the Mount players reflecting on what could have been if passes had been given and errors cut out. Mount now look forward to playing another Bridgend team on October 30th on The REC KO at 11am against Bridgend Sports where hopefully these lessons will have be learnt.
