Mount U15s v Abergavenny U15s
Mountain Ash Under 15s were always going to be up against it playing a very good Abergavenny team
Mountain Ash Under 15s were always going to be up against it playing a very good Abergavenny team with 11 district players in their squad of 23 players and Mount having the bare 15 players. But thankfully some of the Mount Under 14s who had already played a game stayed to help them, namely William Holly, Jack Roberts, Scott Evans and Jordon Coxley who all had an impressive game for the Under 15s. Mount had to defend hard from the outset as Abergavenny started strongly and Mount found themselves down by 21 points to nil in the first 15 minutes. Which was understandably as there was so many players playing out of position it took the home team time to get organised, but once they did Mount competed with Abergavenny in all facets of play. They were unlucky to concede a score just before half time when the Abergavenny winger broke away to score in the corner to put them up by 26 points to nil. The second half saw a great battle between to two teams with neither side giving an inch in the contact area and some great tackles going in on both sides. Mount scored a try when Liam Davies broke away from a lineout to sprint 30metres to score wide out. The play continued to be end to end and only last ditch tackles from both sides stopped the scoring. But as the game was closing out, Mount started to tire as the fresh replacements from the Abergavenny bench made an impact and they scored 2 more tries with 1 converted to run out winners by 38 points to 5. It has to be said though, this was a great effort from the Mount team and if they had all their players available the result could well have been different. Once again thanks to William, Jack, Scott and Jordon from the Under 14s for your help, it was much appreciated by the players and coaches of the Under 15s. Mount Man of The Match award went to Sean Moore.
