Mountain Ash Youth 16 - Tonyrefail 13

Young Firm show Character

Mountain Ash RFC played their 3rd game of the new season, led by Captain Mark Tyler, the team made slow progress in a game of end to end battles.

Some very fine performances from Kieron Davies and Luke Britain and Jack Millard kept pressure on the Tonyrefail pack.

Eventually in the dying minutes Mountain Ash held their breath as Lee Gunter stepped up to take 48 meter shot at goal but thankfully the in form number 10 slotted the ball over with ease but drama continued as Tonyrefail were awarded a penalty 5 meters out immediately after and for some bizarre reason decided to run the ball instead of taking a shot at goal. Mountain Ash's defence stood strong and some how replacement scrum half Ross Davies managed to hold the ball up and the referee who had a fine performance blew the final whistle.

The Young Firm will be hoping to carry their form into their first league game away to Aberdare on the 25th September 2010.
