Happy New Year Wanderers!

Count the achievements of 2012 and you’ll need more than both hands and feet; promotion = massive tick in the box; huge numbers at training = wins coming in left right and centre. Greater achievements are trickier to quantify yet come with the often heard saying Proud to be a Wanderer! Regularly seen on the message boards and not to be taken lightly when seen in training and matches when players go the extra yard for each other, stay late helping each other, arrange socials, help charities and put valuable time into promoting personal fitness and strength all the while boosting morale and the profile of MWFC

At other clubs, 1st XV’s get the best a club has to offer, teams that follow get the muddy pitches, the hand me down kits and struggle for numbers; coaches worry if 2XV will push the 1sts boys along, will players coast? Can we keep players engaged? MWFC coaches have different problems; yes there is a 1st team a 2nd team and a 3rd team, but more and more that’s just names on paper, sit in the bar after a game there is very little difference. It’s obvious we are a place for Players not ego’s. Players play for MWFC because it’s different, no one there is in it for themselves and no one gets a free ride, deciding who starts on the 1s, 2’s or 3’s at MWFC is no easy task.

The coaches and committee haven’t done this, they can promote MWFC and positive behaviours but it’s the men and women players with mud on their boots (often those wee black plastic things), putting their hands up, evolving, leading and taking responsibility for what’s theirs and for what they are proud of!

2013 will be massive and there is huge potential, it won’t be easy; let’s keep hitting it together!

See you at training.
