What a game it was too! Some great rugby played and very good power play when it mattered as well.

The start was a bit stuffy, with both teams testing each other out looking for the weak link. It was MWFC who found the chink in the defence of Inverleith.

Jordan Usher scored the first of his 3 tries after 18mins, following some good forward play and the backs running at the defence with the result being, Jordon’s score. K Harrhy converted 7-0.

For the next 10 mins, the game was evenly balanced until the Inverleith no 9 felt the rath of the ref and was binned for 10 mins. That was the signal to sub the back row that had done a great job until then with some heavy hitters from the bench. I’m not saying they are over weight but they helped drive the pack forward.

The next scrum was immense: with a great shove, Inverleith went backwards for the obligatory 1.5 metres with Michael Young picking and driving for the line, well supported by his fellow back rowers. But they were stopped short. From the resulting ruck, though, MWFC won great ball for the backs to use. Jimmy Whitehouse went over for a score. K Harrhy converted 14-0.

Again from a scrum, Chris Anderson got the ball in hand and went for a 55yrd run, with the Inverleith number 12 trying to catch him. Chris handed of the guy 4 times before he was finally brought down. But that’s not the final story!! The rest of the pack got there very quickly, won some quality ball and sent it through the hands of the backs running some great lines, for David Oliver to go over for his try. 19-0.

Another great run from the pack, with Tyler leading the charge, resulted in Iain Nicol going over for his try. 24-0.

Inverleith - let's give them their due - didn’t lie down and tried very hard to get back into the game. They made us work very hard for our scores, but MWFC were on the march at this time. A middle of the field ruck ball well won by the forwards and Jordon got the ball in hand and he went over for his 2nd try. 29-0

You will see K Harrhy has not converted the last 3 tries! He did score a goal with one of his attempts though. Even Inverleith cheered his goal!!!!!!

Half time 29-0

Second half started the way the first finished. MWFC went straight on the attack and from a quick tap penalty Iain Robertson lost his "rugby virginity" by scoring his first ever try in a senior match. He was a bit bewildered but well done to him as he even went under the posts. 34-0

Inverleith came right back at us and made some great work finally pay of for them with a score to make it 34-5.

Next up was Jordan again who scored his 3rd. This time K Harrhy didn’t bother waiting for the kicking tee, he just dropped the conversion with some good skill. 41-5

Now comes a story. Jimmy Whitehouse got his second try, again following some good hard work from his forwards. The only thing was as he ran over he was seen waving to the future Mrs Whitehouse, Lauren, supporting us on the touch lines. (Anne is saving for a hat Jimmy!!!)

46-5

Everybody played an important part in getting MWFC back into winning ways and one such person was Chris Anderson who rounded of a good days work by all the forwards, who I must say put in a great shift by scoring the last try of the day.

51-5 final score.

The backs got great ball from the forwards all day and it just shows with the ball in hand they can breach any defence going. Bring on Livingston!!!

MotM was won by Jordon deservedly for his 3 tries and for giving the opposition nightmares every time he got the ball in hand. DoD went to Keith Harrhy for his goal!! Iain Robertson won a prize for his first ever try and Johnny Laing for being the oldest man on the park at 34 yrs old and his Birthday.

Well done lads! Keep the hard work going as the proof is happening on the park.
