Back to St. Ives, Cambridgeshire for the third time this season, this time to play the Lilywhites once again. Hopefully with a similar result to the FA Cup tie played here in mid-September.
Cambridge City are currently lying in 21st position in the league with 26 points from 32 matches. Lilywhites 31 'goals for' is the 3rd lowest in the league, 6 of which being notched by striker Tunde Adewunmi, still their leading scorer, who was released by the club in November.Their last match, Banbury (away) resulting in a 2-0 loss. At home they failed to win any of their opening ten league fixtures, losing 7 and drawing 3 times.
Performances have improved since December as they have won four of their last six home league outings, including their last two fixtures against Weymouth (2-1) and Chesham United (3-1). During this spell they also beat 'top six' Merthyr Town 1-0. So a tougher game than previously can be anticipated.
Earlier 'top six' home encounters resulted in defeats against Chippenham Town (1-3), Hitchin Town (0-4) and Banbury United (1-2). Playing home fixtures in St. Ives has affected home attendance which average 210 with a highest gate of 433 when they played Kettering Town.
This season Rebels recorded a 1-0 home success against a resilient City in the league as well as a somewhat easier 3-1 away win in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Last season saw Rebels win at home (3-1) and lose in Cambridgeshire (4-2).
In the FA Trophy Lilywhites were beaten 1-3 in an away 1st Round Qualifying tie against Redditch United.
Prediction: Cambridge City 0-2 Rebels
