“Neil Baker interview with Slough & South Bucks Observer 22 June ”

SLOUGH Town joint manager Neil Baker has spoken of his delight at capturing former Barnet and Southend United attacking midfielder Louie Soares.
The 33-year-old ex-Reading FC trainee has switched from fellow National Two South side Hungerford Town, having enjoyed a highly successful season in which he won the players’ player of the year and supporters’ player of the year awards, while also finishing as top scorer for the Crusaders.
Soares, who has also played for the Barbados national side and Aldershot Town, has impressed Baker and fellow joint-manager Jon Underwood, along with a number of members of the first-team squad.

Baker told the Observer: “He’s an excellent player at that level and he’s a good lad.
“It will weaken Hungerford, but it brings in more competition for us. He was one of the players we highlighted and we’re delighted we’ve got him.”
He continued: “He’s a little bit different to our other wide players, he’s got quick feet and he’s always looking to go past a man.
“He chips in with goals and in terms of integrating, he knows a number of our players and has played with them, and they all wanted him in.”
Baker also revealed the management duo may have secured one more signing – likely to be announced this weekend – but that he is happy with the nucleus of the side which won promotion through the Southern League play-offs last season.
Speaking of his potential addition, he commented: “He’s able to play at the back and in midfield and when a player of his quality comes up you look to sign them. We haven’t been looking to do too much because we believe in the squad being good enough to compete at the next level.”
