Match Report - Biggleswade Town (Home, League)

Rebels come from behind to win

0 - 1 (Hill, 24m); 1 - 1 (Harris, 41m); 2 - 1 (Wadkins, 80m)

Man of Match: Matthew Lench

Substitute Brad Wadkins fired Slough Town to three more points against a dogged Biggleswade side which pushed them every inch of the way. The visitors had taken a first-half lead which was cancelled out by Warren Harris, and then soaked up a huge amount of Slough pressure whilst also going close to a second themselves. Slough carried the greater attacking threat early on but the Waders took the lead on 24 minutes as Shane Hill got the final touch to a corner kick. The hosts piled on the pressure and went closest through Manny Williams, whose close-range header hit a post and rolled along the goal line. Biggleswade then nearly added a second on 40 minutes with Jack Turner turning Craig Daniel's long shot onto the post superbly – but just a minute later, Slough were level as Harris headed in George Wells’ cross. The visitors did well to limit Slough in the second half, who pressed hard for a second goal with James Dobson being denied by Liam Gooch before Chris Flood had an effort disallowed. Wadkins was introduced on 76 minutes and he was quick to make an impact, scoring the winning goal less than four minutes later as Slough’s pressure paid off. Matt Lench weaved past two Waders defenders before playing the ball to the big striker, who beat Gooch at his near post to win a hard-fought three points.
