Due to the recent wet weather it was touch and go whether the match would be on or not however the hard work of the groundsman payed off. St Marys turned up with a squad of 25 players which was significantly stronger than the Team which were well beaten away pre Christmas. St Marys playing down the hill took the game to N&B and whilst the home sides defence was strong and disciplined the opposition gained possession with their forwards orientated game gaining small battles at the breakdowns. St Marys scored two first half Tries to lead 12-0 at half time.
The second half was much the same however now down the hill N&B did enjoy some possession particularly at scrum time where their smaller pack gained the advantage. N&B came back into the game when St Marys who broke blind at scrum time panicked kicked which was somehow charged down and gathered in one magic moment by Captain Ryan Love who ran in from halfway to score. With some 20 minutes remaining N&B continued to battle but he opposition held firm and then had the final say with a third Try to win this epic battle in what turned into a quagmire to win 17-5.
N&B played some good disciplined Rugby but were narrowly beaten on the day. The whole squad gave 200% and avoided conceding the bonus point Try but were just shadowed on the day.
N&B man of the match was Jim Milton who was forced off the bench early on due to injury but played with great strength and attacked off the base of the scrum with great urgency.
Team selection has not been published for this fixture yet.
