With the match due to begin at 6pm, all the excited parents took to their seats awaiting the first delivery. The newly appointed skipper Lewis announced the Narborough side would be taking to the field for the first innings, with this their first competitive match of the season and for some ever, the side put in a valient effort of bowling and produced some excellent stops in the field. A special mention must go to Liam who volunteered to Wicket Keep having never done so before and produced an excellent display.
With Dersingham fielding a strong side they placed 141 runs on the board, a great total in any 20/20 match. However the team was advised simply to go out and enjoy themselves in the middle and forget about the target for the first game. The team replied with a total of 54 for 8 from 20 overs, again mention to Liam and Tyler for long periods spent in the middle continuously seeing off over after over from Dersingham's Norfolk paceman. A big thank you must also go to Jack Colwell
for helping out the team with fielding 11 players, hope his foot gets better soon.
Although the result will show an unfortunate defeat, great praise must go to all of the squad for a brilliant effort in their first match. Hopefully with continuous practise at training and matches on Friday evenings every player will improve and so will the results.
Both myself and John are very proud of the kids for their efforts and are eagerly awaiting the next game.
