The Narborough postie arrived today with a large envelope containing 13 A4 sheets of forms for me to complete plus a certificate that is worth £5,274!
The certificate says "Sport England is proud to award £5,274 to Narborough Cricket Club as part of our Small Grants Programme."
This is funding requested to acquire mobile covers, with piping, run up sheeting and side sheeting from Stuart Canvas, who are Nat West Cricket Force providers of approved ECB equipment. The illustration shows the type of covers we are sourcing.
We were granted this funding to conform to the high standards required by the Norfolk Cricket Alliance League, so that we reduce the loss of games through bad weather, and now that we are involved in junior cricket leagues, provide more quality wickets from the existing square.
We were guided through finding the appropriate source of supply by Kieron Tuck, Norfolk Cricket Board Development Manager, and provided with a supporting letter for our funding application by Peter Thomas, Chairman, and John Murrell Treasurer, of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance League. Canon Stuart Nairn of All Saints Church, Narborough also provided references for the work that the club does in the community, and made sure our prayers were answered.
Narborough Cricket Club wishes to thank all those mentioned for helping us achieve the funding.
This is a significant acquisition of equipment. Along with the recent provision of new nets, coaching in schools, investing in junior cricket equipment, making regular improvements to the ground and pavilion, whilst still providing the finest cricket teas known to humanity, this shows that the club is continuing to improve its facilities for the local community to enjoy.
