Nelson Looking to Recruit to Key Position

Nelson FC are looking to recruit a new Head of Youth for the 2015/16 season. Paul Gray's reign was a short one after he gained a full time post in a pro-club.

The successful candidate will oversee the clubs youth scholarship team and be a key driver in youth development and administration at the club.

The Youth Scholarship Scheme is run in conjunction with Accrington & Rossendale College and is based at the College's Broad Oak Campus, with games being played at Victoria Park and Accrington & Rossendale College.

In 2015/16 the Youth Team will play in the North West Youth Alliance, AOC Colleges League, LFA Cup and FA Youth Cup.

The position is part time (approximately 12-16 hours per week during the season) and is paid at £16.08 per hour. The u18's will train on three mornings a week and play games on a Sunday afternoon in the North West Youth Alliance.

Person Specification

Suitable candidates will possess...

- A UEFA B Licence or Youth Module Equivalent
- Child Protection Certificate
- Emergency First Aid
- Experience of working within elite youth football
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- A sound track record within football
- Good knowledge on local players and recruitment methods
- Great communication skills and flexibility

It would be advantageous if the successful candidate also had experience of working within education, and help if they had D/D1 on their driving licence for mini-bus driving.

Key Roles and Responsibilities include.....

- Supporting our u18 team in their football, education and social development

- Recruitment of players to the scheme

- Leading on planning, delivering and reviewing coaching sessions

- Regular updates on an academy website on matches

- Ownership of all equipment

- Close liaison with development squad and 1st team management

- Use of analysis and performance monitoring equipment

- Match procedures, confirming games with opponents, arranging transport and referees

- Always ensuring a member of staff is on bus for away games

- All results reported to league electronically post game, keep tables, websites up to date

- Regular contact with physio on injured players, joint communication and all problems reported

- Player reviews

- Recruiting the best possible players at all times, liaising with professional clubs on release of players, putting on sessions in schools on behalf of the college on taster days, open days.

- Arranging specific trial dates for the year, ensuring your own availability.

- Being available for interviews on some Thursday evenings to interview possible players for the following season, part of interview team with academic staff

- Liaising with academic staff on progression of learners, emphasising importance of attendance, behaviour and achievement in class and how this may effect them taking part in training or matches.
