Mid winter report
The curtain came down on a very successful season, particularly for the 1stXI with the sixth League title and the 20/20 Trophy leading to the last 8 in the country. The 2ndXI still have a John Scott Cup Final to conclude at the start of next season against Carlisle after the tie had to be curtailed. Chasing 146 to win we stood at 34-0 when the match was abandoned.
The 3rdXI will, we assume, be relegated after one season in Division 2 with probably a new 4 division set up for the Westmorland League, which we hope will provide a better fixture list for the 4thXI.
The U13s proved to be our most successful junior age group, being rarely challenged in the Westmorland Junior League winning a treble treble (3 years of North section, League championship and cup winners). For next season we are in the process of arranging fixtures at 13/14/15 against LRGS which should provide stiff opposition for all concerned.
The 1st and 2nds will have new challenges with the link with the Palace Shield competition. Fulwood & Broughton and Garstang have replaced Kendal and Lancaster in the Northern League and the old second division becomes Division 1B of the Palace Shield. Barrow and Penrith 2nds have had to find new homes and Kendal and Preston relegated to Division 2, so four new teams join us, Longridge, Garstang, Fulwood & Broughton and Vernon Carus 2nds.

The search for a Professional has begun with several names being discussed and contacts made but nothing concrete to report as yet. We would like to conclude any arrangement ASAP so we’ll let you know when a deal is done.
Junior winter coaching is well underway, with our own sessions complimenting the District sessions. We would like to think we can improve on last years total of 13 representing the County at various age groups.

Senior nets will begin the first Sunday in February 6 - 8 at Dallam School, Milnthorpe and we hope to see good turn outs following last years successes.
The draw for the LCB cup sees us with a home draw to Lancashire League opposition, Ramsbottom in Round 2 following both clubs receiving a bye. It’s not been our best competition since we won the trophy at Old Trafford in 2000, but we do have a potential home draw throughout should we be successful
