Netherfield won their opening T-20 match after a 9 wicket victory over arch rivals and defending T-20 holders Kendal at Shap Road.

Kendal won the toss and elected to bat, with Kendal professional Jamie How and Jamie Heywood opening!

Netherfield worked into the hosts with good bowling and fielding, and got the early breakthrough when Stu Dixon clean bowled Jamie How for 3.

This was the first of 3 wickets for Dixon, who ended up with impressive figures of 3-17.

Further wickets fell as Gary Baker and Terry Hunte were caught by Cobus Pienaar and Marc Brown.

Chris Parry then pulled off a spectacular one handed catch of Jack White who went for 0.

Darren Braithwaite was then stumped by John Huck off of Marc Hadwins delivery, before both Graham Baker and Nick Lewthwaite were run out, infact their were 3 run outs, as Jamie Heywood also fell!

Paul Dodds offered some resistance as he ended unbeaten on 16, both Dodds and Chris Miller offered some resistance before Miller was caught by Ben Haddrick!

Stu Parkin then hit a boundary as he and Dodds tried to get the score up to a competitive total, before the innings closed with Kendal making 79-9 off 20 overs.

With a low score to chase, Netherfield chased it down in emphatic style as Professional Cobus Pienaar hit an unbeaten 47 off 42 balls, which included 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Kendal did take the wicket of John Mason as he was caught by Jamie Heywood off Stu Parkins delivery, however Chris Williams went on to score an unbeaten 25 off 13 balls as Netherfield reached 82-1 in 10.4 overs!

So an impressive start by Netherfield who seem intent on continuing their good form this campaign.
