Netherfield are now only 11 points behind league leaders Barrow after defeating St Annes by 18 runs at Parkside Road.

This latest victory means that Netherfield are now only 11 points off top spot, after the top of the table clash between Leyland and Barrow was rained off.

Netherfield were put in by the visitors, as they were bowled out for 121 in 42.1 overs.

It was a slow start to the innings with Netherfield struggling on 33-3. However Brad Earls top score of 31 off 45 balls, steadied the ship, with Simon Mackereth making a notable impact with 21 off 15.

Steven Beck batting at number 9 also made a useful contribution scoring 17 off 20 balls.

David Bartholomew was the best bowler for the visitors as he ended with figures of 6-35.

The start of the second innings was delayed due to the rain as the game lost 7 overs.

Once play re started Netherfield's bowling and fielding was dominant as St Annes were in trouble at 20-6!

The visitors did fight back mainly through David Bartholomew who top scored with 44 off 83 balls.

St Annes gained some momentum causing frustration for The Netherfield players.

However the game breaker came when Bartholomew was caught by Chesney Walling off the bowling of Matt Clinton.

Once the key wicket fell their was only going to be one winner as Netherfield wrapped things up with Matt Clinton taking the final wicket of Tom Bradley for 0 with the visitors all out for 103.

Matt Clinton the top bowler with figures of 4-36, Steven Beck also made a crucial impact ending with figures of 3-26!. Liam Dugdale also impressed with figures of 2-31, with Brad Earl taking 1-7!
