Boyle and Edge impress in emphatic win
Netherfield began the defence of their Twenty-20 Trophy with an impressive 8 wicket victory over Penrith.
Penrith Professional Ashwar Hebbar posted an undefeated first innings knock of 114 off 65 balls as the hosts closed on an imposing chase of 184-3.
However Netherfield sauntered to victory after Jack Boyle and Lewis Edge put on an outstanding first wicket partnership of 132.
Boyle who closed on an undefeated 76 off 58 balls posted 8 fours and 2 sixes while Edge scored fours and 6 sixes as the Field cruised to victory.
Penrith batted first however Netherfield picked up an early wicket when Eddie Robson picked out Ben Barrow off the bowling of Harrison Cox.
The hosts pushed onto 60 before Greg Cameron was run out, while Lewis Richardson despatched of Greg Hall as Penrith were struggling on 79-3.
Hebbar dominated the innings with an undefeated knock of 114 off just 65 balls, while the support play of Alister Craig who made an undefeated 26 off 23 balls saw Penrith close on a competitive total of 184-3.
Jack Boyle and Lewis Edge dismantled Penriths bowling attack as the opening partnership replied with a first wicket stand of 114.
The partnership ultimately saw Netherfield claim the advantage before Edge fell to Bruce Glendinning for 72.
Penrith gained some momentum after Hebbar bowled Brad Earl for 12. However Boyle guided Netherfield to victory as they closed on 186-2 off 18.2 overs.
