Netherfield progressed into the next round of the Lancashire Cup after a dramatic two wicket win over Lancashire League side Ramsbottom at Parkside Road.
Senuran Muthusamys first innings undefeated knock of 61 saw Ramsbottom close on 225-8 off 45 overs.
Jack Boyles second innings score of 74-105 and John Hucks 55-51 had seemingly put Netherfield on course for a convincing win.However Ramsbottom battled back after they claimed three quick wickets, before Marc Hadwin scored a quick fire undefeated 10 as Netherfield closed on 227-8 off 43 overs.
After winning the toss and electing to Field, Netherfield had to remain patient while Ramsbottoms Simon Hanson and Alexander Olpin put on a first wicket stand of 84.
Netherfield broke the partnership after Hanson was run out by John Huck for 28. The wicket saw Netherfield take control, before Jack Boyle and Marc Hadwin claimed the wckets of Alexander Olpin and Martin Cropper.
Ramsbottom at that stage were struggling on 91-3, before Senuran Muthusamy and Thomas Parton pushed the visitors onto 168.
Netherfield battled their way back into the game after Thomas Parton was trapped LBW by Scott Clement before Ben Barrow ran out Bradley Fielding.
From that point Netherfield restricted Ramsbottom to 225-8 , when Finlay Richardson ran out Dale Gabriel, while Matt Jackson and Lewis Richardson picked up the respective wickets of Jonathan Fielding and Owen Collinge.
In reply Netherfield got off to a bad start when Ben Barrow was bowled by Owen Collinge. Josh Dixon and Jack Boyle regained control with a second wicket stand of 68 as Netherfield moved onto 75.
Ramsbottom though broke the partnership when Dixon was caught by Martin Cropper off the bowling of Matthew Burdaky.
However Netherfield were seemingly on course for victory when Huck and Bioyle posted a dominant third wicket stand of 117.
The partnership pushed Netherfield onto 165. Ramsbottom turned the game in their favour when Hucks drive for six was caught by Muthusamy off the bowling of Collinge, before Brad Earl soon followed after being dismissed by Simon Hanson before Hanson claimed his second wicket when Edge was dismissed.
Netherfield were under real pressure after Jonathan Fielding picked up the crucial wicket of Boyle, before Lewis Richardson departed to Muthusamy. Finlay Richardson was then bowled by Fielding with Netherfield struggling on 213-8.
However Netherfield won the game in the most dramatic of ways after Marc Hadwin hit a four and a six in the 43rd over as Netherfield closed on 227-8 to seal a remarkable victory.
