Chambers 7-23 eases Netherfield to glory
Chambers strikes as Netherfield win the 40 ove rcup
Netherfield won the Northern League Cup after a resounding 86 run victory over Garstang in the final which was held at Parkside Road.
Brad Earls knock of 43 and contributions of 33 by Lewis Richardson saw Netherfield post a competitive first innings total of 185-9 off 40 overs.
However Nathan Chambers stunning second innings return of 7-23 off 8 overs eased Netherfield to victory after Garstang were bowled out for 99 off 27.5 overs.
Netherfield who lost the toss and were put into bat made an imposing start when Ben Barrow and Lewis Edge posted a first wicket stand of 41.
Garstang battled back after both Barrow and Jack Boyle were stumped in quick succession by Matt Crowther off the bowling of Coen Ousthuysen.
Netherfield were under further pressure after Lewis Edge was caught by Crowther off the bowling of Travis Pieters, with the Field in trouble on 63-3.
John Huck and Brad Earl edged Netherfield onto 119, however Garstang seized the initiative when both Huck and Earl were dismissed by Parwez Khan with Netherfield struggling on 125-5.
However both Josh Dixon and Lewis Richardson scored crucial runs as Netherfield battled onto 182. Garstang slowed the runs down when Danny Gilbert claimed the wickets of Dixon, Richardson and Nathan Chambers.
Netherfield closed on 185-9 while Parwaz Khan bowled Harrison Cox in the final delivery of the first innings.
Garstangs reply started well after Naqib Rahmen and Michael Wallings first wicket stand of 41. However Rahmen was hitting out with fours and sixes played on big shot too many after the opening batsmen picked out Jack Boyle off the bowling of Nathan Chambers.
Netherfield from that point ripped through Garstangs top order after Nathan Chambers picked up the wickets of Michael Walling, Mark Walling. Michael Wellings and Matt Crowther. Chambers closed with figures of 7-23 when the bowler saw off Coen Ousthuysen and Ian Walling.
However Netherfield cleaned the tail up when Marc Hadwin dismissed Mark Winstanley, Travis Pieters and Parwez Kahn while Garstang were all out for 99 as Netherfield celebrated.
