Seconds ease past Lancaster
Netherfield Seconds won their third consecutive game following a comprehensive 114 run victory against Lancaster Seconds at Parkside Road.
Brendon Herrons first innings knock of 73 and Theo Gallagher’s knock of 66 saw the Seconds post an imposing total of 228-4 before Scott Clements second innings return of 4-7 saw Netherfield bowl Lancaster out for 114 off 39.3 overs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, both Theo Gallagher and Finlay Richardson posted an imposing first wicket stand of 50 while Lancaster toiled in the field.
Lancaster gained some light relief when Richardson was trapped LBW by Steven Armstrong. However Brendon Herron and Gallagher pushed Netherfield onto 129 as the seconds were in control.
The visitors broke the partnership when Gallagher picked out Lewis Mc Ginley off the bowling of Syed Gurez while Liam Dugdale was dismissed by Nathan Baxter.
However Brendon Herrons imposing knock of 78 saw Netherfield surge past 200 and while Herron was run out Netherfield closed on a dominant total of 228-4.
In reply Marcus Hill claimed the wickets of Lee Marshall and Jacob Orr as Lancaster toiled onto 15-2, before Robbie Dwyer saw off Lewis Mc Ginley.
From that point Netherfield ripped through the Lancaster innings when Bertie Medhurst returned figures of 2-18 after the young bowler dismissed Imran Ashraf and Geoff Orr before Dwyer picked up his second wicket after trapping Rick Gosh LBW.
Netherfield second Team Captain Scott Clement also weighed in with a return of 4-7 after seeing off Brendan Hetherington,Steven Armstrong, Isaac Atherton and Nathan Baxter as Lancaster were all out for 114 off 39.3 overs.
