Fourth Team win
Fourths ease to victory
Our 4ths entertained Ingleton on Saturday, but were hardly hospitable to their guests.
Skipper on the day, Adam Lewis, won the toss, and elected to take the ball.
Our opening bowlers, Ben Atkinson and George Purcell soon made inroads into the Ingleton batting order to the point where, after 15 overs, the visitors were reeling on 8 for 7 !!
Captain and opening bat, Georgina Brown, having watched a procession of partners come and go, at last found allies in nos 9 and 10, Mike Beeforth and Owen Sharpe, and these three moved the score along to 43 before the final wicket fell.
Georgina was the not out bat, playing beautifully and looking totally untroubled by the home pace bowlers.
Ben Atkinson finished on 5 for 3. George had the remarkable figures of 8 overs, 7 maidens, 2 for 1, and there was a wicket each for Ryan Martin, Charlie Nicholls, and Sam Parkinson.
In reply, Vaughan Samson and Ben Stafford displayed great technique in a solid opening partnership, until an unfortunate mix-up saw Ben run out.
Vaughan was joined by Charlie Nicholls, and these two moved the score along to 33 before Vaughan was caught for 16. Ben Atkinson came to the crease, but before he had laid bat on ball, Charlie hit three 4s to finish the game.
Netherfield won by 8 wickets, Charlie finishing on 22 no.
