Moscrops 5fer eases The Fourths to victory
The 4ths travelled to Windermere on Saturday, lost the toss, and were asked to bat. Mick Notley departed in the first over, and was replaced by Adam Lewis, who, alongside Josh Irving steadied the ship for the next few overs on a wicket which favoured the bowlers. When Josh was out, Adam was joined by Aaron Stephens, and these two, batting with increasing confidence, put on 72 for the third wicket, Adam making 25, and Aaron an impressive 34, with three 4s and a 6.
When this pair were out in consecutive overs, Reece Irving and Andy Moscrop continued the good work, adding 45 with some excellent stroke play. Andy was bowled for 26, and it was left to Reece, 23, and Pete Atkinson, 14, to close out the innings at 153 for 7.
After tea, Josh Irving got the attack off to a great start by bowling the Windermere No.1 with his first ball. Then, in the 8th over, Andy Moscrop ripped the heart out of the home team reply with 3 wickets in 4 balls.
Thereafter, wickets fell at regular intervals, and Windermere were all out for 86. Andy finished with 5 for 18. There were 2 wickets for Harris Wood, and one each for Ben Stafford and Pete Atkinson.
