Fourth Team continue fine form
Fourths pick up win
The Boys travelled to Windermere on Saturday, where Mick won the toss, and, on a green top, asked the hosts to bat first. This plan seemed to be mis-firing as the first three batters hit 23, 24, and 49 to put the home side in a strong position.
Dan Shorrock, Charlie Nichols, Josh Shorrock, and Jack Mallinson all bowled well, without making an initial breakthrough.
Josh and Jack eventually accounted for the openers, and Mick tossed the ball to spin-twins Pete Atkinson and Neil McDonnell with immediate effect.
Neil picked up 2 wickets, and Pete ran through the mid to tail end batsmen, finishing with 5 wkts for 3 runs from 5 overs.
The Windermere innings closed on 122.
After tea, Mick opened with Harry Smith who looked good for the opening overs until he got a Jaffa.
Mick was next out for 21, followed by Charlie and Craig. This gave the home side some hope, but Jack Mallinson and Ben Stafford batted beautifully, displaying both patience and good technique to dash any Windermere hopes.
Jack made 34, and Ben 33 n.o. Vaughan Samson coming in to complete the job, as Netherfield cruised to 123 for 5.
