Newark under 7’s entered one team into the Boston Festival and were drawn in a group with Bury St Edmunds, Southwell, and Paviours. We got off to a bit of a rusty start losing to a well drilled Bury St Edmunds team but a much improved second game against Paviours was a closer affair, but again we narrowly lost. The third tie against Southwell brought around a well deserved and much needed win.
In the Quarter Final we were drawn against Nottingham Moderns which we won 6 tries to 3. This meant that for the second time in the day we were up against Bury St Edmunds in the Semi Final, and unfortunately they proved to be just a bit more organised and after an even first half they ran out the winners to end Newark’s part in the tournament.
There were many fine individual performances but more encouraging was the improved teamwork and support play shown by the boys who have not had many games this season and we made a lot of team changes during the games.
Thank you to the parents and to all who turned up to support and well done to the boys who played.
