Going down to the Millenium Stadium to watch the Welsh Squad train turned into something a little bit special for one of our Under 10’s on Wednesday.
One of only six kids picked out of hundreds packed into the bottom tier of the ground, Carrick McDonaugh did some passing and punting and then went on to try his hand at kicking a conversion over the hallowed posts.
Just a half-metre in from the 22 and slightly to the right hand side of the posts there I was like many thinking that he’ll probably be lucky to get anywhere near to be honest.
Carrick took a few steps back and gave it an almighty thump and 13,000 people cheered when it sailed straight through with room to spare. Jumping up and down was the only way to describe what Carrick did next. Mind you, I would have done the same too as he had just bagged two tickets for the Wales v Italy game in a few weeks time.
Who says that playing football can’t do your Rugby any good. Well done Carrick from all of us in the U10s.
News Flash : - Rumours persist that Carrick was going to donate the tickets to his coaches! :-)
Latest News : - Carricks Dad, Craig is very proud of him and has questioned any rumours of Ticket donations. :-(
