Newbury entertained Devizes in a friendly on a beautiful sunny Berkshire morning. It was clear from the start that our guests had brought their strongest side. Newbury were in trouble from the outset and plagued with poor tackling, they found themselves 28 nil down at half time.

Devizes duly rested some of their 'county' boys and the game became slightly more balanced, Newbury opened up their scorecard with two tries. However this was not to be a rising from the ashes and at full time Devizes had extended their tally, with the final score standing at 12 42.

Hard lessons were learnt but despite having 5 key players missing, the boys took up the challenge.

Maybe, once back at full strength a re-match is in order?
