The A’s went into this game knowing that a win would all but secure them the title, so minds were solely focused on nothing but getting the Win.

This was shown right from the kick off, where Nick WESTON showed some great hands to release Jack Moore who offloaded to Jamie BULL to score the opener.

Newbury continued to show moments of magic, with strong running through James Ludlow and Dave Hancock, but often failed to capitalise on the breaks due to lack of support. Aylesbury were competing well in the forwards and making life difficult for Newbury.

Leading up to half time, Newbury began to find some rhythm and were displaying some brilliant offloading between backs and forwards alike. Further tries followed through some excellent running rugby for Jamie WALLACE, Stuey Mayo and Dave Hancock.

Newbury lead comfortably at half time, which gave the opportunity to bring on some fresh legs and look to continue the positives in the first half. Hooker Eddie Cleal made an instant impact, making some charging runs through midfield. Stuey Mayo continued to run supporting lines and his reward came through an interception try early in the second half.

Aylesbury had another spell of possession and frustrated Newbury. Deep in Newbury’s 22, Newbury-come-Aylesbury winger Jack Steffan showed great vision to pluck a pass out of the air and sprint in for their first try.

Another try followed for Aylesbury, who took advantage of a Newbury error in their 22. It was clear Newbury had taken their foot off the pedal but with such power and pace, the opportunities for more tries kept coming.

Jamie BULL immediately hit back, getting on the end of a passage of great offloading, including Jack Moore, Jamie WALLACE and Matt SPENCER. Newbury finished off the game in style, with Dave Hancock completing his hatrick (and adding 2 more!) and Stuey Mayo grabbing a brace. In broken play, Matt SPENCER spotted some space in behind to chip through and collect to score in the final minutes of the game.

Number 8 Jack Moore continued his road back to fitness after a thumb injury with a man of the match performance, making some great runs from the base of the scrum and being a key link man in attack.
