CODES of CONDUCT

Players
1. Play to the Laws of the Game, and accept all the referees’s decisions even if he seems to make a mistake.
2. Play because you want to not to please your coach, parents, or club officials.
3. Recognise all good play, whether by your team or your opponents team, win with dignity, lose with grace.
4. Recognise that every player expects their involvement in Rugby Union to be free from all forms of abuse.
5. Be attentive at training and coaching sessions, improving your skills will improve your enjoyment.
6. Work equally hard for your team and yourself, everyone will benefit.
7. Co-operate with your coach, referee, team-mates and opponents, for without them you do not have a game.

Coaches.
1. Teach your players that the Laws of the Game should not be broken.
2. Be reasonable in your demands on players time, energy and enthusiasm, appreciate the needs of the players before the needs of the sport.
3. Recognise the importance of fun and enjoyment when coaching.
4. Avoid over playing talented players.
5. Ensure training equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate to the age and ability of the player.
6. Ensure medical advice is followed in a case of injury - regardless of how the player feels. Always be aware of the players medical state and enquire if in doubt.
7. Develop team respect for the opposition, officials, and opposing coaches - keep winning and losing in perspective.

Officials & Volunteers.
1. Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.
2. Develop an appropriate working relationship with players, based on mutual trust and respect.
3. Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
4. Promote the positive aspects of the sport e.g. fair play.
5. Display consistently high standards of behaviour.
6. Follow all guidelines laid down by the R.F.U., Gloucestershire R.F.U. and the club.
7. Hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.
8. Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.

Members, Parents & Spectators
1. Encourage enthusiastic participation.
2. Young players learn best by example, always applaud good play by either team.
3. Do not encroach onto the field of play.
4. Encourage respect for referees and touch judges, do not publicly question decisions or honesty.
5. Appreciate volunteers, coaches and match officials, they give up their time and resources to provide your entertainment.
6. Support the clubs social and fund raising events, it will ensure the clubs future and make involvement with the club more enjoyable.
7. Consider how you can contribute to the clubs advancement through taking a position in the club.
