Newham Dockers vs Charlton Gunners. London junior League Challenge Cup

Newham Dockers Vs Charlton Gunners
A sunny Memorial Park staged the under 16’s clash between Newham Dockers and Charlton Gunner in the London junior League Challenge Cup. With both teams looking to progress into the semi-final draw.
A new look Dockers side, once again looked to overcome not only the large numbers of the opposition, but also the lack of numbers in their own side. This would prove to be a problem all game.
A strong Gunners side came out of the blocks flying and hit the Dockers boys with 2 quick tries. From the first set of six, the Dockers team found themselves one try down and it appeared that this was longing to be a long day. The 2nd and 3rd tries for the visitors soon followed and a white wash was looking to be on the cards, until a handling error from the Gunners second row allowed Dan Nelson to race 60 meters to score the first points for Dockers of the afternoon. 2 more tries in quick succession meant that at half time, the Dockers lads where only 2 points behind and where starting to look at their first win of the season.
The second half started the same as the first with Charlton picking up the first points of the half. But unlike the first half the Dockers answered back straight away. But the lack of numbers and a few injuries to Captain Anthony Sinclair and Dan Nelson meant the Dockers where once again up against the wall. In light of this the lads rolled up there socks and fought hard to stay in the game. Unfortunately this was a little too much for the players and the Gunners ran in 3 more unanswered tries making the final score Newham Dockers 20, Charlton Gunners 36.
After the game Coach Gareth Barron said “I was proud of how the lads performed today. We had a few guys pull out at the last minute and this left us short. But the heart that this performance showed, gives the boys a lot of positives and it’ll also help to improve during the season”.
