Combative midfielder lines up alongside Meakin

Chris Young has taken the second central midfield place in the Greatest Ever Millers XI, having been voted in by supporters on Twitter, Facebook, email and votes in the club.

Young was brought to the club by Ally Pickering following the clubs promotion to the Evo-Stik League and he was to become a key player during the clubs first season at that level, in the southern section. The following year, following the clubs move into the North division, Young again impressed under new Manager Roy Soule as the Millers reached the play-offs where they lost out to a Trafford side who went on to secure promotion. The play off semi-final defeat was to prove Young's final game in a New Mills shirt as he moved on that summer to join Curzon Ashton, along with several Millers team mates, and they were to lift the Evo-Stik Division One trophy in 2013/14.

During his Church Lane career Young, who was a good all round player with a never say die attitude, made 59 appearances for the club. His only goal in the Milers colours coming in a 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton in September 2012.
