League - Hampshire 1
New Milton travelled to play newly promoted Lytchett Minster, the game produced a good display of running rugby by Milton who scored 8 tries which would have been more but for the tireless defence of the Lytchett side. Milton set out to play fast running rugby and were quickly into the Lytchett 22 winning a 5 mtr line out, the ball being passed to Tom Lyth who ran round the front of the line out to score, they continued to play fast running rugby but were held up just short of the Lytchett line on a few occasions. Milton’s penalty count gave Lytchett the chances they were working for and more play was taking place in the Milton 22 but they were unable to break through the Milton defence. Towards the end of the half Milton won a scrum on halfway the ball was passed out to the backs for Ali Neal to complete the move and score, Adam Lavis converting, and from a scrum following the kick off Brendan Treacey broke away and passed for Sam Bew to run in to score, Lavis added the extras.
Half Time 0 - 19
Milton’s running game was working but the final passes just not finding their man, giving Lytchett chances to clear their lines, from many of these long clearances Man of the Match Alex Everett Boulter collected cleanly and ran back to set up yet more attacks. Milton’s forwards were dominate in the scrum and the line out, they won a 5 mtr scrum, the ball being passed out for Lewis Thompson to score, they quickly won two more scrums on halfway, from the first Bew broke away and passed for Lyth to score, the second Treacey broke from the base backed up by Oliver Hillyer- Riley who passed for Andy George to score. Milton’s forwards were also working well with the backs, in one of these moves saw Lyth combine with Matt Freeman, who passed back for Lyth to score his hat-trick of tries, Lavis added the extras. Milton continued to attack the Lytchett line but they worked hard and prevented further scores, up until the final moments when from a ruck near the line Sandy Lynn gathered the ball and ran into score.
